Why You Should Never Go To Sleep Without Brushing Your Teeth

We have all been guilty at one time or another of going to bed without brushing our teeth. This would normally be from coming home late, or perhaps even from being on a camping trip.  That said, it’s good to know what goes on in your mouth at night to give you more incentive to not let it happen again.

For starters, there is naturally occurring bacteria in your mouth that feeds off of the food you eat.  These bacteria also excrete waste.  That information alone is likely to ensure you don’t miss out on brushing again, right?!

If that’s not enough, the waste is very acidic and can actually break down your tooth enamel…which can lead to root decay and cavities. And remember, once tooth enamel is gone, it’s gone for good.

Plaque also hardens and calcifies on your teeth…which can then only be removed with a professional teeth cleaning. If your gums pick up on plaque buildup as an infection, it can cause your immune system to swing into full gear to try to fight it off. There is then a risk that your body would start to attack the healthy tissues that hold your teeth snugly in place, which can then lead to gums pulling away from your teeth.

So as you can see, it is so important to be educated as to the risks and to take them seriously. It only takes 2 minutes to brush after all. Don’t skip out on your dental health. Oh, and remember to floss too!
